Stina Johansson nominated for Sweden's Wildest Neighbor

Stina Johansson in Insjön has created a garden with a nature pool and wild spaces to attract pollinators. She was one of four nominees for Världsnaturfonden's competition Sweden's Wildest Neighbor.

Stina Johansson has let the lawn grow freely and placed piles of branches on her plot in Insjön. She has also created a nature pool to provide habitats for bumblebees, bees and other insects.

– Bumblebees, bees and all types of insects are important for biological diversity. Without them both plants and animals risk disappearing, says Stina Johansson.

Over 18 000 people voted on the four finalists. The winner was announced on 7 July but it was not Stina Johansson. She still describes the participation as a fun and important experience after being contacted by an association representative.
