Talent and reserve program boosts sports in Valle del Cauca

Indervalle's Talento y Reserva del Paraíso program aims to identify and develop promising athletes in Olympic and Paralympic disciplines from Valle del Cauca. Launched in 2024, it has selected over 90 athletes by 2025, achieving successes in national and international competitions. This initiative ensures the region's sports leadership in the coming years.

Indervalle's Talento y Reserva del Paraíso program serves as a key strategy for generational renewal in Valle del Cauca's sports scene. From 2024 to 2027, it engages 200 athletes in prioritized disciplines such as athletics, skating, Olympic wrestling, weightlifting, judo, boxing, taekwondo, karate, cycling, archery, and their Paralympic counterparts.

In 2024, preselection processes collaborated with local schools, clubs, and leagues, leading to the choice of 32 athletes: 30 from the Olympic sector and 2 with disabilities. For 2025, selective camps in seven municipalities—Buga, Yumbo, Jamundí, Tuluá, Palmira, Roldanillo, and Cali—featured comprehensive assessments by experts in sports medicine, nutrition, psychology, physiotherapy, and biomechanics. This resulted in selecting 66 athletes: 53 conventional and 13 Paralympic, including deaf athletes.

The selected athletes have excelled in major events. Internationally, Sara Portela and Dairy Londoño won gold at the World Skating Championship in China; Yelena Restrepo and Karen Mancilla, at the Pan American Weightlifting in Mexico; Laura Fernández, at the Central American Karate Championship in Zipaquirá. Nationally, Juan Almario secured gold in archery in Antioquia, while Jean Poll Cardona and Simón Vásquez achieved gold and silver in cycling in Zipaquirá. In the Departmental Sports Games, 22 talents earned 13 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes.

Led by Governor Dilian Francisca Toro Torres and Indervalle manager Ana Milena Orozco Cañas, the program will continue in 2026 with high-level training, promoting integral development and opportunities for Valle del Cauca's youth.
