Tara Sabah relocated at Malmö school after criticism

Tara Sabah, fired from a Göteborg school over hateful social media posts, has been hired as a teaching assistant at Bergaskolan in Malmö. The hiring has sparked strong criticism, leading to her relocation to an administrative role without child contact. Sabah understands parents' concerns but defends her freedom of speech.

Last year, Tara Sabah was fired from her substitute teaching job at Ebba Petterssons skola in Göteborg due to hateful social media posts, including wishing suffering on children of those who voted for the Swedish government, SD, and L, worse than Palestinians'. In another post, she expressed hope that Russia would make "a parking lot of whole Sweden." Sabah, involved in the Palestinian movement, was also convicted of disobeying police during a demonstration at Nordstan shopping center in Göteborg.

Recently, she was hired as a teaching assistant at the municipal Bergaskolan in Malmö, drawing sharp criticism from Sverigedemokraterna and others. Principal Rikard Persson stated he was unaware of her background at the time of hiring. Once the information surfaced, Sabah was relocated to an administrative role without child groups. She omitted her time at the Göteborg school from her CV: "One doesn't mention negative things when applying for a job."

Sabah attributes her posts to reactions in the heat of emotion over Gaza: "It was a lot of emotions about an ongoing genocide being livestreamed." She admits it was not right to express herself that way but stands by recent posts calling the Swedish government a "Nazi regime" and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson "filth." A week ago, she wrote about scaring SD parliamentarian Rashid Farivar: "We have freedom of speech in this country."

Despite the criticism, she sees no issue working with children: "No. I don't think there should be a problem; one should be able to express oneself as one wants." She submitted her criminal record with her application and has reflected on her past actions. She describes the relocation as tough but accepts it: "It's the boss who decides." To DN, she said: "I understand that parents get worried when they see those videos."
