Tesla adds side camera recording to Cybertruck in new update

Tesla has rolled out software update 2025.38.3 to the Cybertruck, enabling recording from its side B-pillar cameras for Dashcam and Sentry Mode. This long-requested feature enhances vehicle security and addresses a gap since deliveries began. The update also introduces 3D navigation visuals to the pickup.

The update, version 2025.38.3, began rolling out earlier this week, fulfilling one of the most frequently requested features from Cybertruck owners. According to the release notes, “Your vehicle’s side cameras (B-Pillar) will now be recorded to both Dashcam and Sentry clips.” This addition allows owners to capture a wider range of footage around their vehicle, improving coverage for security incidents and parking situations.

Cybertruck owners expressed enthusiasm on X, with user @greggertruck describing the feature as “huge” for enhancing security. Tesla had previously introduced B-pillar camera recording for its newer S3XY models—Model S, 3, X, and Y—in the 2025 Spring software update in April. However, the Cybertruck, which employs a slightly different camera suite, was initially excluded, prompting questions from owners about its arrival.

Beyond camera enhancements, the 2025.38 update brings 3D buildings and cityscapes to the Cybertruck's navigation display, aligning it with the visual experience in Tesla's other vehicles. This comes at a pivotal time: Tesla’s AI chief Ashok Elluswamy recently confirmed that the Cybertruck will soon receive full Full Self-Driving (Supervised) functionality via version 14, with rollout expected later this month.

These developments position the Cybertruck closer to parity with Tesla’s flagship lineup in terms of safety features and autonomous capabilities.
