'The Bear' pays tribute to Rob Reiner in series finale

'The Bear' honored the late Rob Reiner in its series finale with a direct reference to one of his most iconic films. The tribute came during a phone conversation in the final episode.

Rob Reiner appeared as restaurant consultant Albert Schnurr in three episodes of the Hulu series. In the finale, line cook Ebra, played by Edwin Lee Gibson, agreed to expand the restaurant into a franchise. Ebra replied "As you wish" to Albert's final request.

The line references the 1987 film "The Princess Bride," which Reiner directed. Cary Elwes, who starred as Westley in the movie, was among those who paid tribute to Reiner.

Reiner and his wife Michele were found murdered in their Brentwood home in December 2025. Their son Nick has been charged with first-degree murder and pleaded not guilty. The Los Angeles County district attorney is seeking special circumstances that could result in the death penalty or life in prison without parole.

Nick is also seeking a $1.7 million trust payout. A judge will decide the outcome.
