David Finlay, Clark Connors, and Gabe Kidd, known as The Dogs, have signed with All Elite Wrestling following Finlay's return on the March 4 episode of AEW Dynamite. In an interview with Fightful, the group explained their motivations for leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling and joining AEW. They also addressed ongoing ties to Jon Moxley and the Death Riders faction.
The announcement of David Finlay, Clark Connors, and Gabe Kidd joining AEW came shortly after Finlay's appearance on the March 4 episode of AEW Dynamite. Speaking to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Finlay highlighted the financial benefits of working with his new partners. "I’ve never made a dime with my brother, I’ve never made a dime with my dad, and I’ve almost paid off a house with these guys. For me, that was an easy business choice," Finlay said.
Clark Connors expressed fatigue with his time in Japan. "I’ve been over there for seven years, seven long years. I want to come here and show the world exactly what Clark Connors can do," he stated. Gabe Kidd described a falling out with NJPW, saying, "Sometimes, love dies." He added that the group intends to challenge everyone in AEW: "We’re coming for the heads of every single name in this company. We’re taking their spots, straight up."
Kidd also addressed criticism for leaving NJPW, referencing his match with Kenny Omega. "New Japan, as soon as I had that Kenny match, they should’ve given me a New Japan title shot... Why have I never had an IWGP heavyweight title match? It’s a fucking joke," Kidd remarked.
Despite the move, Kidd affirmed loyalty to the Death Riders. "I’m double dipping up in this. I’m still ride or die for Mox too," he said. Connors noted a working relationship, recalling calling Moxley for assistance through Danny Garcia during his early days in AEW. "I respect him and I respect what the Death Riders are building over here," Connors added. Finlay supported the alliance conditionally: "I’m cool with them until we got a reason not to be cool."
The interview provides insight into The Dogs' transition and ambitions in AEW.
