Uhuru Kenyatta receives DRC peace report in Gatundu

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta received a report on Wednesday proposing ways to end the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The handover followed a Process Design Meeting at his Ichaweri home.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta received the report on 24 June 2026 after the meeting concluded at Ichaweri in Gatundu, Kiambu County. He serves as Facilitator of the Armed Groups Working Stream for the Eastern DRC Peace Process under the East African Community.

“The Process Design Meeting in support of H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta’s Armed Groups Working Stream for the Eastern DRC Peace Process concluded today, 24 June 2026, at Ichaweri, Gatundu, Kiambu County,” stated Uhuru. Participants submitted details on actor mapping and analysis with recommended entry options.

The team mapped key armed actors in Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu provinces. The recommendations drew from the Nairobi Process and other initiatives. Eastern DRC has seen decades of conflict involving over 100 armed groups and displacing more than seven million people.
