UIndy track teams launch 2026 season with multiple victories

The University of Indianapolis men's and women's track and field teams kicked off their 2026 season at two meets, securing 57 top-ten finishes. At the Indiana Tech Invitational, athletes claimed several first-place honors in jumps and throws. The French trio shone at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic in the men's 800m.

The Greyhounds traveled to Fort Wayne for the Indiana Tech Invitational on Friday, competing against teams including Taylor, Marian, and host Indiana Tech. Francesca Maurino took first in the women's high jump at 1.66m, while Amarion Conyers placed fourth in the men's high jump with 1.96m.

Pole vaulters Mackenzie Vanbibber and Maleah Bostock tied for third in the women's event at 3.55m. Frank Decker achieved a personal best of 4.50m for fifth in the men's pole vault, with Keywuan Taylor matching that height for sixth.

On the track, Amiah Rhodes ran second in the women's 400m at 1:00.75, and Brailey Hoagland placed sixth there (1:01.43) and third in the 200m (26.81). Lateef Mustafaa set a personal best of 22.68 for third in the men's 200m and 50.94 for fourth in the 400m, with Ryan Linenkugel, Jalen Larkey, and Ruley Buroff taking fifth through seventh in the 400m.

Curt Dahncke earned second with a personal best of 2:34.2, while Ian Pugh (4:21.93) and Conyer Wilson (4:24.27) took second and third in their respective distance events.

At the Hoosier Horsepower Classic in Indianapolis, French athletes Josue Le Cadre, Yannis Le Mouillour, and Felix Rivet competed in the men's 800m against Division I foes. Le Cadre won with 1:48.43, Le Mouillour set a personal best of 1:49.47 for second, and Rivet placed fourth at 1:50.21.

Other notable performances included Isha Ramteke's fifth in the women's 60m (7.89) and eighth in the 200m (27.10), plus strong showings in various hurdles, jumps, and throws across both meets.
