The municipality of Yumbo, in Valle del Cauca, Colombia, hosted the Kilómetros por la Equidad race on November 24, 2025. The event brought together 1,500 local and departmental participants to foster unity, well-being, and respect for women.
Mayor Alexander Ruiz García and social manager Zuleyma Valencia thanked the community for their massive turnout. "These spaces allow us to strengthen community ties and promote healthy use of free time," the mayor highlighted. The social manager added: "The importance of continuing to build an environment where women can live safely, respected, and with opportunities."
The race delivered a strong message against misogyny, violence, and silence. It was backed by the Valle del Cauca Governor's Office, Governor Dilian Francisca Toro, First Lady Jimena Toro, IMDERTY, public forces, and relief organizations, which handled logistics and route support.
This initiative aims to build more inclusive communities, underscoring authorities' commitment to women's well-being and social cohesion in the region.
