Scientists from the Allen Institute and Japan’s University of Electro-Communications have built one of the most detailed virtual models of the mouse cortex to date, simulating roughly 9 million neurons and 26 billion synapses across 86 regions on the Fugaku supercomputer.

New simulations using supercomputers have shown that Enceladus, a moon of Saturn, loses 20 to 40 percent less mass from its icy plumes than previously estimated. Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin analyzed data from NASA's Cassini mission to model the plumes' behavior. These findings could inform future missions probing the moon's subsurface ocean for signs of life.

New supercomputer simulations suggest that dark energy, the force accelerating the universe's expansion, might be dynamic rather than constant. Led by researchers in Japan, the study aligns with observations from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). This could reshape understanding of cosmic structure formation.
