A 32-year-old man died after being shot by a military police officer during a confusion in an approach in east São Paulo. The incident happened on Saturday night on rua Alice Lins de Azevedo in Itaim Paulista. Witness videos show a fight that escalated to the fatal shooting.

The episode began when two military police officers approached a man on a motorcycle on the night of November 29, 2025, in the Itaim Paulista neighborhood in east São Paulo. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the man showed aggressive behavior and needed to be restrained by the officers. At that point, locals surrounded the police and harassed them, worsening the situation.

Videos recorded by people at the scene captured the sequence of events. The 32-year-old man, wearing a green shirt, is seen receiving a kick from an officer and then engaging in a fight. While one agent was restraining another individual in black clothes against a wall with a punch, the man in the green shirt ran and struck a blow to the head of an officer who had his back turned. At that moment, the officer's partner fired at him.

Witnesses screamed and panicked as the man fell to the ground after the shot. He was taken to Santa Marcelina Hospital but did not survive his injuries. The SSP stated that the officer's weapon was seized and the case was registered as resistance followed by death resulting from police intervention at the Department of Homicides and Personal Protection (DHPP).

Footage from the officers' body cameras will be analyzed as part of the investigation. Additionally, the Military Police opened a military police inquiry to examine the incident. The event underscores ongoing tensions in police approaches in the area.
