64 percent of Indonesia's Gen Z experience financial stress

BTN chief executive Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that 64 percent of Indonesia's Generation Z are experiencing financial stress due to rising living costs.

Nixon made the statement while delivering a public lecture at Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya on Thursday (12/6/2026).

Nixon explained that financial stress triggers the phenomenon of doom spending or impulsive purchases among young people. He identified rising living costs as the main factor causing the pressure.

Nixon stressed the importance of building financial management habits from an early age. According to him, savings and investments should be set aside first before monthly expenses.
