Authorities detain CJNG capos in Jalisco and Nayarit

Mexican federal authorities arrested four alleged members of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) in operations in Nayarit and Jalisco, including key operators known as 'El Cárdenas' and 'El Uber'. These detentions, coordinated by the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) and other agencies, aim to undermine the finances and operations of the group led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias 'El Mencho'. Drugs, weapons, and vehicles were seized during the actions.

In two separate operations, Mexican federal authorities arrested four alleged CJNG members, one of the country's most powerful criminal organizations. The first took place in Tepic, Nayarit, where Luis 'N', alias 'El Cárdenas', was captured; he was identified as a regional operator responsible for coordinating drug trafficking from Central America. According to the FGR, 'El Cárdenas' oversaw aerial shipments via small planes landing on clandestine runways in Nayarit, northern Jalisco, and southeastern Zacatecas. He also handled maritime routes and illicit financial operations for the cartel. During the arrest, substances resembling cocaine and crystal were seized, along with a long weapon.

The second operation occurred in Zapopan, Jalisco, where José 'N', alias 'El Uber', was arrested alongside Carlos 'N' and Mauricio 'N'. 'El Uber' was considered plaza boss in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga and the Guadalajara metropolitan area, where he generated violence through narcotrafficking, extortion, kidnappings, homicides, and arms trafficking. He led a CJNG-linked criminal cell. In searches of two related properties, federal forces confiscated long and short firearms, magazines, cartridges, 500 doses of methamphetamine, five vehicles, a property, 10 cell phones, and cash.

Ulises Lara López, FGR spokesperson, stated that the captures resulted from military intelligence and coordination among the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, Guardia Nacional, and other agencies. The detentions deliver a blow to 'El Mencho's' finances, though challenges in combating organized crime in the region persist.
