Avantris Entertainment has revealed Neon Odyssey, a sci-fi space opera supplement for Dungeons & Dragons 5e, set to launch on Kickstarter in May 2026. The project reimagines the tabletop RPG in a neon-soaked galaxy inspired by '80s nostalgia and synthwave. It features three books totaling over 1,400 pages of content for players and game masters alike.

Avantris Entertainment, known for the successful Kickstarter The Crooked Moon, is expanding into space with Neon Odyssey, a complete reimagining of Dungeons & Dragons 5e as a cinematic space opera. The supplement draws inspiration from iconic sci-fi films, retro video games, classic animation, and pop culture nostalgia, emphasizing optimism, adventure, and stylish presentation over hard sci-fi simulation.

Set in the bespoke Stardust Rhapsody campaign setting, players take on roles as bounty hunters exploring planets, space stations, and interdimensional realms. Jobs involve targeting people, robots, or data, earning credits to upgrade ships and gear, potentially drawing characters into conflicts with larger factions. The project includes a new space combat system, vehicle rules, and reimagined core classes with sci-fi 'skins,' alongside a brand-new Machinist class focused on technomancy and mechanical inventions.

Neon Odyssey comprises three books: the Outrunner's Handbook for character creation, including over 40 subclasses, 30 species, backgrounds, spells, and more; the Cosmic Codex detailing the setting with 13 factions, over 30 alien worlds, six interdimensional realms, more than 250 monsters, 40 missions, and 120 items; and the Overdrive Expansion adding advanced systems like professions, racing, stress and entertainment mechanics, and ship upgrades. Together, these provide 1,400 pages of modular content suitable for one-shots or long campaigns.

"Coming to Kickstarter this May, Neon Odyssey is Avantris Entertainment’s largest project to date, built for both longtime players and newcomers who want to blast off to the stars, explore the galaxy, and chart their own cosmic destiny," the company stated. The campaign launches on May 5, 2026, with previews available on Avantris' YouTube channel and official website. One source mentions a June launch, but most confirm May.
