Treyarch has detailed the endgame campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, unlocking a twelfth mission after completing the main story. This post-campaign mode introduces open-world PvE gameplay on the Avalon map, supporting up to 32 players. The game launches on November 14, 2025, for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Campaign Structure
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 features 11 main campaign missions that conclude the core story. Completing these unlocks a twelfth mission as endgame content, designed to enhance replayability and provide post-launch narrative depth.
Endgame Gameplay
The endgame takes place on the full Avalon map, enabling open-world PvE matches inspired by Modern Warfare 2's DMZ mode and Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode. Players can drop in solo or in squads of up to four, with up to 32 participants total. Only one squad member needs to finish the campaign to access and host the mode, allowing others to join without completion.
Operators can be customized using main campaign characters or new ones, incorporating skills like grappling hooks, Active Camo cloaking, and unique endgame abilities. Treyarch design director Kevin Drew highlighted the Shadow Break ability, which creates an area-of-effect blast to warp and eliminate nearby enemies.
Avalon Map Details
The Avalon map incorporates points of interest from Black Ops 7's campaign, as well as locations from Black Ops 2, Black Ops 4, and Black Ops 6. It features four tiers of difficulty, requiring players to level up to tackle higher zones. Gameplay follows an extraction shooter format with high-risk, high-reward missions; successful exfiltration is needed to retain progress, while death results in losing all items.
This marks the first Call of Duty launch with full progression in campaign endgame, including leveling, unique camos, and battle pass advancement.
Preparatory Update
A Black Ops 6 update (version 1.85), released on November 10, 2025, preloads Black Ops 7 data into the COD HQ app. This mandatory download prepares the ecosystem for the launch but requires reinstalling Black Ops 6 and Warzone packs to continue online play.
