K-pop group Blackpink has announced that its third mini album, titled Deadline, will be released on February 27 at 12 a.m. EST. The news came via a 19-second teaser video on social media, marking the group's first project since the 2022 album Born Pink. This follows a series of delays and individual member solo endeavors.
Blackpink revealed the upcoming mini album on Wednesday, sharing the announcement through official social media channels. The teaser video provided a brief glimpse into the project, though no tracklist or concept details were disclosed. Deadline will be distributed by YG Entertainment and Interscope Records.
This release comes after Blackpink's full-length album Born Pink in 2022, which achieved a historic debut at number one on the Billboard 200—the first for a K-pop girl group since 2008. In the interim, the members pursued solo careers. Rosé released her album Rosie in 2024, including the collaboration "APT." with Bruno Mars. Lisa dropped Alter Ego in 2025 and appeared in season three of the HBO series The White Lotus. Jennie issued Ruby in March 2025, while Jisoo put out Amortage and took on roles in South Korean television and films.
The group reunited for the single "Jump" on July 11, 2025, which peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, charted for 10 weeks, and topped the Billboard Global 200. Deadline shares its name with Blackpink's ongoing world tour, which began in July 2025 in Goyang, South Korea, and is set to conclude on January 26, 2026, in Hong Kong.
Jennie commented on the group's evolution in a January 2025 Billboard cover story: "I want to say it's going to be the most powerful [versions] of ourselves that anyone has seen."
YG Entertainment delayed the album multiple times, shifting from an initial May 2025 target to November, December, January 2026, and now February, attributing the changes to efforts to enhance quality.
