The St. Louis Blues snapped a skid by rallying past the Ottawa Senators in a 4-3 win at Enterprise Center. Trailing 2-1 after two periods, the Blues improved to 8-10-7 with their second victory in eight games, ending 0-8-1 when behind entering the third.
Oskar Sundqvist opened the scoring at 7:59 of the second period, banking a rebound off the end boards in off Senators goaltender Leevi Merilainen for his first goal of the season. Shane Pinto tied it 1-1 at 10:11, sweeping a rebound past Blues netminder Jordan Binnington. Fabian Zetterlund gave Ottawa a 2-1 lead at 18:26, tucking a loose puck behind the net after gathering it at the right post, with captain Brady Tkachuk assisting in his return from a 20-game absence due to a broken right thumb sustained Oct. 13.
The third period belonged to St. Louis. Jordan Kyrou tied it 2-2 at 2:01 with a backhand into the top left corner off a cross-ice pass from Jake Neighbours, his team-leading seventh goal. Pavel Buchnevich put the Blues ahead 3-2 at 5:33, one-timing a feed from Brayden Schenn on a 2-on-1 rush for his third goal and first at even strength, ending a 16-game drought.
David Perron evened it at 3-3 at 7:31 with a backhand from the slot after Colton Parayko flubbed a pass. But Matthew Kessel swatted a rebound at 9:19 for the 4-3 winner, his second goal. Binnington finished with 25 saves, while Merilainen stopped 27 for Ottawa, which fell to 12-8-4 despite winning three of four on their seven-game road trip.
The Senators face Dallas on Sunday, while the Blues host Utah on Saturday.
