Brandon Aiyuk posted a video over the weekend chanting support for the Washington Commanders. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver appears determined to leave the team amid ongoing contract disputes.
Aiyuk said in the video, "Go Commanders! Go Commanders! Go Commanders! Raise Hail! Take Command." He also shared an image of former Washington quarterback Mark Rypien holding the Lombardi Trophy after the team's 1992 Super Bowl win.
The receiver wants to reunite with quarterback Jayden Daniels, his former Arizona State teammate now with the Commanders. Aiyuk has posted multiple taunting videos on social media in recent weeks, including one on June 7 where he said, "IF YOU SCARED JUST SAY DAT," and another on June 9 accusing the 49ers of being mad about his contract.
The tension dates back to 2024 when Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million extension after contentious talks. He suffered a major knee injury in October 2024, played only seven games, and later had his 2026 guarantees voided. In January, general manager John Lynch stated that Aiyuk had played his last snap for the franchise.
The 49ers have no plans to release him immediately, and the Commanders have shown little interest in a trade. Aiyuk could report to training camp on July 25, which might force a resolution.
