Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson performed with Billie Joe Armstrong and his band the Coverups at a Comic-Con party in San Diego on Thursday night.
The surprise appearance took place at Fandom’s Comic-Con weekend kickoff party. Dickinson joined Armstrong onstage for a cover of Mott the Hoople’s “All the Young Dudes,” with the pair harmonizing on the David Bowie-penned track.
Armstrong’s Coverups had already played covers of Cheap Trick’s “Hello There” and the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” earlier in the evening. Dickinson later told a CBS affiliate that he more or less remembered the words and that the performance was good fun.
Dickinson is in San Diego to promote his comic book series tied to the solo album The Mandrake Project. He is scheduled to sign copies of the new collection The Mandrake Project: Year Two on Friday.
