Busy Philipps joins cast of CBS drama Cupertino

Busy Philipps has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming CBS legal drama "Cupertino," reuniting her with "Girls5eva" co-star Renée Elise Goldsberry. The series, created by Robert and Michelle King, follows lawyers battling tech giants in Silicon Valley. It received a series order in October 2025 and is slated for the 2026-27 season.

Busy Philipps will portray Natalia in "Cupertino," described as "the beautiful and delightfully blunt first wife of an AI billionaire, who divorced her when she turned forty. Now Natalia wants revenge and agrees to finance Michael and Olivia's start-up law firm in order to go after his and other AI businesses." The show is a David vs. Goliath legal drama set in Silicon Valley, centering on lawyer Michael, played by Mike Colter, who is cheated out of stock options by his former tech start-up employer. He teams up with another fired attorney, Olivia, portrayed by Rachel Keller, to fight back against the tech elite.

Renée Elise Goldsberry joins as a brilliant opposing attorney with a professional and romantic history with Michael. Additional cast members include Ella Stiller and Nik Dodani. Robert and Michelle King, known for "The Good Wife" and "Evil," wrote the series, will executive produce and co-showrun it under their King Size Productions banner, with Robert directing the pilot. Liz Glotzer also executive produces, backed by the Kings' overall deal with CBS Studios.

The project was set up at CBS in 2024, with a writers room and 13-episode script order in 2025, leading to the full series pickup in October 2025. Philipps, repped by Range Media Partners and Gang Tyre, previously starred in "Girls5eva," "Freaks and Geeks," "Dawson's Creek," "Cougar Town," and hosted "Busy Tonight" on E! and "Busy This Week" on QVC+. Her film roles include "Mean Girls: The Musical," "I Feel Pretty," and "The Gift."
