Corinthians secured its fourth Copa do Brasil title on the night of December 21, 2025, defeating Vasco 2-1 at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro. Goals came from Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay, with Nuno Moreira scoring for the Rio team. The win ends a 16-year drought for the trophy and ties the club with rival Palmeiras in total conquests.
The 2025 Copa do Brasil final was decided in the second leg, following a goalless draw in the first match at Neo Química Arena. At the Maracanã, packed with around 70,000 Vasco fans, Corinthians took the lead in the 18th minute of the first half, with Yuri Alberto finishing a long ball from Matheuzinho past goalkeeper Léo Jardim. Vasco equalized in the 40th, as Nuno Moreira headed in a cross from Andrés Gómez after a mistake by José Martínez.
In the second half, Vasco pressed hard, but Corinthians scored the winner in the 17th minute. Breno Bidon started the play, Matheuzinho advanced on the right, and Yuri Alberto laid off for Memphis Depay, who poked it into the net. With the 2-1 aggregate score, Timão lifted the trophy for the fourth time, in 1995, 2002, 2009, and now 2025, matching rival Palmeiras.
Coach Dorival Júnior celebrated his fourth title in the competition, tying Luiz Felipe Scolari (Felipão). "It was very heavy, all that, because the contestations were huge. And I had support from few people," Dorival vented about criticisms after his Brazil national team stint. Memphis Depay, scorer of the decisive goal and earning his 10th career title, slammed the board: "The people in the board need to wake up. [...] The club needs structure."
Despite a turbulent year with president Augusto Melo's impeachment, R$2.7 billion debt, and 13th place in the Brasileirão, Corinthians pocketed about R$98 million in prizes and a spot in the 2026 Libertadores. The win also secures a berth in the Supercopa Rei against Flamengo. Players invaded Dorival's press conference to celebrate with a "bath" for him, and President Lula posted: "Early Christmas present for the Corinthian nation. Congrats, Timão!"
