David Alonso wins at Assen for second Moto2 victory

Colombian-Spanish rider David Alonso won the Moto2 Dutch Grand Prix at Assen. The result gave him his second career win in the class and lifted him to fourth in the championship.

Alonso, riding for CFMOTO Aspar, started from pole position but lost the lead on the first corner. He regained the front on lap six after battling teammate Daniel Holgado.

Manuel González took the lead in the closing laps, with Senna Agius second. Alonso passed both riders in the final meters after a chicane and despite nearly crashing in the last corner.

The win moved him to fourth in the standings, 69.5 points behind González. Alonso said: "Toda la temporada peleando. La primera victoria en Assen, que es una pista que me cuesta". He also repeated his wish to race in MotoGP in 2027 as teammate to Fabio Quartararo.
