Deolane Bezerra cries during custody hearing in São Paulo

Deolane was arrested preventively in Operation Vérnix launched by the Civil Police and the São Paulo Public Ministry. The arrest took place at her mansion in Barueri in the São Paulo metropolitan region and was upheld by the court after the virtual hearing.

During the session she mentioned her 9-year-old daughter and stated she had been detained over R$ 24 thousand deposited in her account by a client. The defense requested conversion of the preventive detention to house arrest based on an STF understanding but the Public Ministry defended maintaining the measure.

On Friday morning (22) Deolane was transferred from the Penitenciária Feminina de Santana to the Penitenciária Feminina de Tupi Paulista in the interior of the state. Her sister Daniele Bezerra criticized the arrest calling it pedagogical and demanded a position from the OAB.
