Sumar deputy Aina Vidal has reported activist Bertrand Ndongo to the National Police for harassment near the Congress of Deputies. Vidal said she felt assaulted and intimidated after Ndongo insulted her and blocked her from entering a taxi.
The incident began last Tuesday in the Congress press room, where Ndongo called Vidal an "idiot." Later on the street, the activist physically blocked her from entering a taxi, an act she views as an attack on her freedom of movement.
Vidal filed the complaint on Thursday at a National Police station. At a press conference supported by her parliamentary group, she explained that the episode was "violent" and lamented the normalization of insults and dehumanization toward politicians.
During the appearance, activist Vito Quiles interrupted the question period. Both Ndongo and Quiles face open proceedings in Congress over possible withdrawal of their press credentials.
