Deutsche Bahn CEO sees black zero possible after losses

Deutsche Bahn is on course for a profit turnaround after billions in losses, according to CEO Evelyn Palla. This year could end without losses on the bottom line.

Berlin. Deutsche Bahn recorded a loss of around 2.3 billion euros in 2025. That was about 0.5 billion euros more than the previous year.

CEO Evelyn Palla told Bild am Sonntag that the internal efficiency program is paying off. A black zero now seems within reach after half a decade of billion-euro losses.

The adjusted operating result improved by 630 million euros to a positive 297 million euros. For 2026 the company targets an operating result of about 600 million euros and revenue of around 28 billion euros.
