Dhruv Negi and Jiya Rawat win Yonex-Sunrise badminton titles in Chennai

Uttarakhand’s Dhruv Negi claimed his first senior men’s singles title, while Haryana’s Jiya Rawat won the women’s crown at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Senior Ranking badminton tournament in Chennai.

Dhruv Negi defeated Rajasthan’s Pranay Katta 20-18, 14-16, 15-11 in the men’s final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Thursday. The 20-year-old secured his maiden senior title.

In the women’s final, Jiya Rawat beat Andhra Pradesh’s M. Tanishq 15-12, 15-10. Several top players were absent due to international commitments, including reigning national champion Rithvik Sanjeevi.

Doubles titles went to Viplav Kuvale and Viraj Kuvale in men’s, V.S. Varshini and Nayana S. Oasis in women’s, and Vimalraj Annadurai and Shreya Balaji in mixed. Former TNCA president Ashok Sigamani and TNBA secretary Ve. Arunachalam presented the prizes.
