Disney has unveiled the first official visuals for the upcoming overhaul of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers’ Run at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, featuring Din Djarin and Grogu. Debuting May 22, 2026—alongside the theatrical release of The Mandalorian & Grogu—the update introduces player choices, enhanced engineer roles, and cutting-edge graphics.
Following a premature name change and detail leak on Walt Disney World’s website in February 2026, Disney has now officially announced Millennium Falcon: Smugglers’ Run – A New Mission, the major refresh for the ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland. The new storyline, organized by Hondo Ohnaka, tasks pilots with aiding the Mandalorian in intercepting a deal between ex-Imperial officers and pirates during the New Republic era. The original Coaxium heist mission remains available as an alternate option.
A striking new poster shows Din Djarin carrying Grogu amid a space battle with the Falcon in flight, promising more intense action. For the first time, crews can choose from four destinations: Bespin’s Cloud City clouds, Tatooine’s deserts, Coruscant’s skyscrapers, or the wreckage of the Second Death Star near Endor. Engineers take a starring role, selecting the mission path and interacting directly with Grogu—addressing prior feedback that the position felt underutilized.
Partnering with Epic Games, Disney integrates Unreal Engine for real-time, high-fidelity visuals with dynamic lighting, explosions, and responsiveness to pilot inputs, drawing from Lucasfilm assets for authenticity. The changes boost replayability akin to Star Tours. Timed with the Mandalorian & Grogu film, expect new merchandise and themed snacks at Black Spire Outpost.
