Egypt minister meets Schneider Electric on expansion plans

Egypt's industry minister discussed expansion and local manufacturing with Schneider Electric's regional CEO during a meeting on June 29.

Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem met Sebastien Riez, CEO of Schneider Electric for North East Africa and the Levant. They reviewed the company’s Badr City facility, which has an 80% local content ratio, exports half its output to over 35 countries and employs about 650 people.

Hashem offered support through streamlined procedures and invited the firm to join the Local Supplier Development Programme and the Industry Sun Initiative for rooftop solar systems. He also proposed participation in the Energy Service Company model to improve factory energy efficiency.

Riez outlined plans to expand the Egyptian plant, raise local content to 85% and grow activities in digital energy management, industrial automation and sustainability solutions.
