Emmy Rossum shared how she and husband Sam Esmail divide parenting tasks using the Fair Play Deck. The couple, married since 2017, have a five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. Rossum praised Esmail's hands-on approach in a recent interview.
The 39-year-old actress told People the pair are testing the card system to balance responsibilities at home. Right now Esmail handles middle-of-the-night duties, including a recent night when their son woke four times.
Rossum called her spouse "amazing with both of our kids" and noted his ability to manage film sets while staying deeply involved as a parent. She added that watching him with their daughter feels especially meaningful given her own upbringing.
Raised by a single mother, Rossum met her father only a few times as a child and again as an adult. She reflected that many people grow up without a parent's full presence, yet she feels lucky for the love she received and the example her husband sets.
So… can a deck of cards keep the household harmony, or will the kids still win every round?
