Eric André releases classical album as BLARF

Comedian Eric André has released a new album of orchestral music under the name BLARF. The project, titled Film Scores for Films That Don't Exist, came out on Stones Throw Records and features eight pieces recorded with a full orchestra.

André collaborated with composer Prateek Rajagopal on the album. The works range from humorous takes on film score conventions to more serious compositions. André, who studied upright bass and conducting at Berklee College of Music, described the effort as a personal passion project. The recording took place in Budapest, Hungary. André conducted one live performance of the material at Zipper Hall in Los Angeles in late April. He said the experience fulfilled a longtime creative goal. André noted plans to edit footage from the concert for possible release on a streaming service or YouTube. He continues to work on new music in other genres while balancing his comedy career.
