For Five Coffee plans new cafe in Old Town Alexandria

For Five Coffee is set to open its fourth Virginia location in the upcoming 425 Montgomery mixed-use building in Old Town Alexandria. The cafe will occupy a 3,443-square-foot space under a 10-year lease. Construction on the building is expected to finish in late 2026, with the cafe likely opening around that time or early 2027.

For Five Coffee, a chain known for artisanal coffee and bakery items, is expanding in the Washington, D.C., area with a new outpost in Old Town Alexandria. The fourth cafe in Virginia will be located at 425 Montgomery Street, within the new 425 Montgomery mixed-use development. This site marks a significant milestone for the brand, which first entered the DMV region in Alexandria in 2018 in partnership with Carr Properties.

The new space spans 3,443 square feet, secured with a 10-year lease, ensuring a long-term presence in the community. Stefanos Vouvoudakis, CEO and co-founder of For Five Coffee, described the expansion as a 'full-circle moment.' He stated: “When we opened our first DMV For Five café in Alexandria with Carr Properties in 2018, we knew we were launching something extraordinary. Now, with 12 cafés across the DC/Virginia region, we’re thrilled to deepen our roots and continue growing within the Alexandria community–while bringing a more elevated, luxury café experience to this side of the city in a way we’ve never done before.”

An exact opening date for the cafe has not been announced. However, the 425 Montgomery building's construction is projected to complete in late 2026, suggesting the cafe could debut late that year or in early 2027. This addition aims to offer locals an enhanced cafe experience, building on the chain's established reputation in the region.
