Former HV71 coach recalls turbulent years in club

Anton Blomqvist has spoken about the challenges during his two years as coach of HV71. The team faced repeated leadership changes and internal disruptions while fighting to remain in the SHL.

Blomqvist described the period as marked by multiple shifts in club management. Kent Norberg left, followed by the arrival and departure of Chris Abbott. Björn Liljander and Stillman each took over before going on sick leave.

He said the internal issues affected the entire organization. Many staff members had to handle extra responsibilities amid uncertainty over who was in charge.

Blomqvist noted that external criticism was less draining than the events inside the club. He pointed to unforeseen circumstances such as Abbott taking a new job and the sick leaves as factors no individual could be blamed for.
