Hobby Horsing grows in popularity with World Championships ahead

Hobby Horsing has seen rapid growth in the UK with regular weekend events attracting up to 100 participants. Young riders like 16-year-old Maisie Scaddan compete in disciplines including showjumping and dressage while preparing for the World Championships in Finland.

Maisie Scaddan has represented Britain at the Hobby Horse World Championships after winning three gold medals in showjumping at the 2025 British Championships. She started four years ago after seeing tutorials on TikTok and now trains in her garden after school. Events now take place across the country nearly every weekend. Competitors take part in showjumping judged on faults, time and style as well as dressage to music and gymkhana games. The World Championships in Finland run in June with entry by ballot. Zoe Brown launched Hobby Horse Adventures in 2024 after her daughter could not find local shows. The organiser now runs events and a summer camp full time. Lynne Acheson of Laurel Designs has made hobby horses by hand for 40 years and reports rising demand for her realistic designs sold worldwide.
