Increases in prepagas, utilities and rents arrive in December

In December 2025, Argentines will face at least five confirmed increases in essential services such as prepagas, gas and electricity bills, public transport, and rents. These adjustments occur amid rising inflation, with October's IPC at 2.3% and November projections around 2.2%. Some hikes exceed the recent inflation rate, hindering disinflation efforts.

December signals the year's end with direct economic impacts on Argentine households. Prepagas lead the adjustments, with rises between 2.1% and 2.5% depending on the plan and company. For instance, an individual plan costing $65,000 in November will rise to $66,300, while a family one from $150,000 will go to $153,300. Higher plans could reach $204,600. OSDE will apply 2.1% nationwide but 2.5% in Patagonia; Galeno, Swiss Medical, Prevención Salud, Avalian, Hospital Alemán, and Sociedad Italiana at 2.3%, and Sancor the same in the AMBA.

For utilities, no new hikes for December, but bills will reflect November consumption. Enargas approved changes in the Costo Propio de Distribución: Edesur users will pay 3.53% more than in October, and Edenor users 3.6%.

Public transport in the AMBA also increases: the bus ticket in CABA will average $594 (4.4% up), $598 in the Buenos Aires suburbs, and the subway $1,207.

Rents vary by contract: quarterly ones rise 6.43%, every four months 8.46%, semestral 14.1%, and annual 39.2%. These changes, above the recent IPC, strain family budgets in an inflationary environment where private projections estimate November exceeding 2%.
