The Indian Space Research Organisation headquarters in Bengaluru received a bomb threat email on Sunday evening that was later declared a hoax by police after a thorough search.
The email was received around 9 p.m. on Sunday but came to the attention of officials only on Monday morning. It claimed that bombs planted inside the premises would explode by 2 p.m. Personnel from the Sanjay Nagar Police Station along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and sniffer dog teams conducted a search of the Antariksha Bhavan building on New BEL Road.
No explosives or suspicious objects were found during the sweep. Police declared the threat a hoax and registered a case at the Sanjay Nagar Police Station to trace the sender.
This incident follows the arrest of Nishant Tyagi from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh a few days earlier for sending a similar hoax email to the same location on July 2. Investigators had noted that Tyagi appeared to be suffering from a mental illness.
