Following their April announcement, J Balvin and Ryan Castro provided an in-depth preview of their joint album *Omerta* in a Rolling Stone digital cover story. Set for release on May 7, the project explores themes of family—with an Italian code adapted to Colombian roots—and features a teaser with Sofia Vergara.
Building on the initial reveal of their collaborative album Omerta, J Balvin and Ryan Castro sat down with Rolling Stone for a digital cover story. The record, due out on May 7, centers on family themes, as Castro explained: “We brought it as an Italian code that, but we adapted it to us, to our way of living as Colombians too.” The teaser prominently features Sofia Vergara, whom Balvin called “the most Latina actress who made this huge statement around the world.”
Castro expressed deep admiration for Balvin, his mentor: “When bro doesn’t feel like singing anymore, I’ll take the throne. So it’s a pleasure to make an album with Balvin, to be his friend, and to learn from him not just about music but about life.”
Balvin shared a poignant moment from the Grammys, watching Bad Bunny win Album of the Year with Castro: “He has this talent that is undeniable; he’s like a unicorn. But he works for it. To go to the Grammys and see him win Album of the Year and be with Ryan, [it was] full circle.”
