Jayden Brown and Quincy B rise in FEI dressage rankings

Australian dressage rider Jayden Brown and his horse Quincy B have climbed into the top 20 of the FEI world rankings. Brown now sits at number 22 among athletes, up from 30, while Quincy B is at number 20 among horses, up from 26. This progress follows their recent hat-trick of wins at Willinga Park's Dressage by the Sea event.

The Paris Olympic pair of Jayden Brown and Quincy B continue to make strides in international dressage. According to the latest FEI Dressage World Rankings for CDI3* and above competitions, Brown has advanced to 22nd place in the athletes category, improving from 30th last month. Quincy B has similarly risen to 20th in the horses ranking, up from 26th.

Their upward movement comes after securing victories in the Grand Prix, Special, and Freestyle at Willinga Park’s tenth anniversary edition of Dressage by the Sea. Brown expressed enthusiasm about the achievement in a statement: “It’s pretty exciting to see Quincy’s name pop up on the FEI world rankings… what an amazing horse that I’m so fortunate to have trained from three-year-old to Grand Prix.”

He also highlighted the significance of their success from Australia: “Also exciting to see my own world ranking… I never would have thought we’d be in the top 50 let alone pushing towards the top 20. What’s even more special is that we are doing it from Australia. I’ve heard many people say that returning home could be a backwards step and make it harder to get the scores, but hopefully we are starting to prove to our sport in Australia that staying in Europe isn’t the only way to get to the top of your game.”

Brown credited his long-time coach Jenny Gehrke for support, noting they have trained Quincy B from a young horse to Grand Prix level in Australia while drawing knowledge from overseas contacts, especially in the UK. “Quincy and I have trained from young horse to Grand Prix in Australia, with my long time and very trusted eyes on the ground Jenny Gehrke; whilst both Jenny and I are always soaking up knowledge from the people we aspire to overseas, particularly our friends in the UK, it’s nice to take a moment to be proud of producing consistent high scores that are still improving and doing it our Australian way!”

Looking ahead, Brown anticipates the final World Championships qualifier: “Bring on our last World Championships qualifier in a few weeks!” The event, Dressage and Jumping with the Stars, is scheduled for 19-21 March in Victoria.

The rankings do not influence selection for the FEI World Championships, but they underscore Australia's presence among global leaders. Fellow Olympian Mary Hanna ranks 59th among athletes, up from 96th, with her horse Ivanhoe at 57th, up from 167th. Additionally, three horses previously ridden by Olympian Simone Pearce—Cadeau Noir, Fiderdance, and All We Need—appear in the top 100 horse rankings.
