Kils AIK declines offer for Hockeyettan spot

Kils AIK has turned down an invitation to join Hockeyettan next season. The club cited organizational and financial concerns as reasons for the decision.

Kils AIK received the offer after Forshaga IF and Falu IF were denied elite licenses. One vacant spot went to Nyköping while the second was extended to Kil.

Club official Marcus Nilsson said the timing made acceptance difficult. "Frågan kommer väldigt sent och i dagsläget bedömer vi inte att vi är redo, vare sig organisatoriskt eller ekonomiskt, för att ta det steget upp," he told VF.

Earlier this spring Kil topped its series and was viewed as a possible candidate. Chairman Robin Jansson had already flagged the club's finances as a major obstacle to any potential promotion.
