Background and Recent Activity

This release comes after recent Instagram posts showing the band in the studio, including a montage of rehearsals where Caleb noted, "It's been fun. I know I've been having a great time," and drummer Nathan added, "It's so amazing this song did not even exist this morning." Another post captioned with phrases like "thrills to chase, bills to pay, mouths to feed" hinted at new material.

The band's most recent full-length album, Can We Please Have Fun, arrived on February 22, 2024, and received a three-star review from NME, praising it as their most liberated record in over a decade while noting some restraint. Caleb Followill previously told NME about the album's inspiration: "With this record, I was like: 'Alright, big boy, it's time to be a songwriter… I wanted people to feel the passion that went into [this album] and the honest, blue-collar hard work."

In August 2024, they released the single "We're Onto Something" featuring Zach Bryan, who also collaborated with them on his track "Bowery." Earlier this year, the band canceled UK and European shows due to Caleb's foot injury from a freak accident while playing with his children, but they returned to the stage in July and completed UK dates, including Victorious Festival and Ireland's Electric Picnic 2025.
