Len Cariou, known for playing Henry Reagan on Blue Bloods, will make his first appearance on the spin-off Boston Blue. The casting news includes returns for Bridget Moynahan and Marisa Ramirez later in the season. Donnie Wahlberg shared details during a Television Critics Association panel.
CBS's Boston Blue, a spin-off from Blue Bloods, is bringing back more familiar faces from the Reagan family. Actor Len Cariou, who portrays patriarch Henry Reagan on the original series, is set to guest-star in Episode 13, scheduled to air in April. This marks his debut on the new show, reuniting him with Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan and leads the Boston Blue cast.
Bridget Moynahan, who previously appeared as Erin Reagan in the pilot episode, will return for a second time in Episode 17, airing in May. Additionally, Marisa Ramirez is confirmed to reprise her role as Detective Maria Baez in Episode 15, also in April. These appearances come as the series explores Danny's transition to the Boston Police Department, introduced in Episode 9.
During a virtual panel hosted by the Television Critics Association on Tuesday, Wahlberg revealed the news. "Grandpa Reagan's going to be showing up, and Erin's going to show up again," he told reporters. Addressing the impact of Danny's career move and his long-distance relationship with Baez, Wahlberg added, "I think there are layers to all this still, right? So there is, of course, Maria, and I think they're figuring things out. I'm not going to reveal too much... I will just tell you that it's not resolved, and she will be back in the coming episodes."
He emphasized that the change "affects everyone." Boston Blue's first season, consisting of 20 episodes, resumes with Episode 10 on Friday, February 27, at 10 p.m.
