Man arrested for homicide with scissors in Los Ríos

A 35-year-old man was arrested for his alleged role in the death of a 34-year-old, who was stabbed in the neck with scissors in La Unión. The incident took place on Sunday night in the José Miguel Gaete neighborhood. Prosecutor Leyla Chahin stated that the preliminary motive involves prior grudges.

The arrest occurred today through efforts by the Los Ríos Regional Prosecutor's Office and the PDI's Homicide Brigade. The victim's body, a 34-year-old Chilean, was found with a stab wound to the cervical area in the La Unión commune, Los Ríos Region.

La Unión prosecutor Leyla Chahin reported that “the detention was achieved of the person identified by witnesses as the author of this aggression, without apparent motive, using a sharp object, apparently scissors.” She added that “the motive would have been the existence of prior grudges, for which there are no complaints, but it is under investigation.”

The suspect, a 35-year-old Chilean, was captured on Monday in a rural sector of the commune, following a verbal arrest warrant requested from the La Unión Guarantee Court. His detention control hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

The case highlights investigative work in a region where homicides stemming from personal conflicts require thorough review of backgrounds, though no prior complaints are reported.
