Marjorie Estiano explains decision not to have children at 44

Actress Marjorie Estiano, 44, revealed in a podcast that she never wanted children due to a difficult relationship with her mother.

Marjorie Estiano, known for roles in Globo telenovelas such as Duas Caras and the series Sob Pressão, said her view on motherhood was shaped by a conflicted family environment.

In an interview with the podcast Isso Não é Uma Sessão de Análise, she stated: “I never thought about having children. I think maybe because of this more war-like environment with my mother, I said: ‘I don’t want to have children, this is not good, this is not cool’.”

The actress explained that therapy helped her understand her initial rejection as a defense mechanism. She described the family nucleus as a “Pandora’s box” full of childhood vices and projections that are hard to update.

Estiano also mentioned that she used to reject deeper affective bonds in the past, prioritizing a practical and objective approach in her relationships.
