Microsoft's annual developer conference began today in San Francisco, emphasizing advancements in AI and Copilot tools. The event runs June 2–3 and features a keynote by CEO Satya Nadella at 10 a.m. PT.
The conference opened with sessions on agentic AI, including discussions of Copilot evolving into async coworkers capable of long-running tasks. Nadella highlighted this shift during recent earnings remarks, noting that agents will become the dominant workload across the tech stack. Agent Mode is now default in several Office 365 products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
