Minecraft adds cushions and straw beds in preview

Minecraft is introducing cushions and straw beds in its latest preview build, giving players new ways to sit and rest after 17 years.

Cushions can be crafted from three wool slabs of the same color and come in 16 variants. Players can place and interact with them to sit.

Straw beds allow sleep without setting a spawn point but are destroyed after one use and do not function in the Nether or the End. They are made from hay bales, yielding four beds per three bales.

The features appear in preview version 26.40.30, alongside additions like abandoned camps in the Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes. A full release is planned for later this year.

Mojang, the developer, is among studios affected by recent Microsoft layoffs impacting over 3,200 employees across Xbox Game Studios.
