On December 1, 2025, at the end of her morning press conference, Claudia Sheinbaum received a note from Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch about the appearance of the two SSPC agents. The president read the message live: “What I'm told, I'll read the note they passed me: The two SSPC agents kidnapped by a criminal group in Jalisco were found in good health”. She added no further comments due to a scheduled meeting with Singapore's president.
García Harfuch confirmed shortly after on his X account: “Our colleagues from @SSPCMexico who were deprived of their liberty in Zapopan, Jalisco, on November 25 are well and will soon be with their families. We thank @DefensaMx, @SEMAR_mx, @GN_MEXICO_, and Governor @PabloLemusN for their support in the search for their location”.
The agents disappeared on November 25 while heading to an intelligence operation in Guadalajara to dismantle criminal groups. They were traveling in an official vehicle found abandoned on Paseo de los Virreyes in Zapopan, with bullet impacts, casings, and blood stains. The search involved the Secretariat of National Defense, the Secretariat of the Navy, and the National Guard.
Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus detailed that the agents were found in a firefighters' unit in Magdalena, over an hour from Guadalajara. They received immediate medical attention; one had a bullet wound in the leg, but both are in good health and will soon return to their families. Lemus emphasized ongoing collaboration with federal authorities to clarify the case.
This incident echoes a similar one in September in Michoacán, where SSPC agents were rescued alive after a disappearance near Morelia Airport.
