Mexico City's Attorney General's Office, led by Bertha Alcalde Luján, announced the detention of Nazaret ‘N’, alleged CEO and founder of MetaXchange, during a raid in the Polanco neighborhood. This is part of a probe into a pyramid fraud scheme promising high investment returns, seemingly backed by contracts, offices, and bank accounts.
Initially, the company made payments to clients to build trust, but these stopped, exposing that funds came from new victims in a Ponzi-like operation. Patrick ‘N’ is already in preventive prison and linked to proceedings, while Mariana ‘N’ faces precautionary measures. The office has 120 complaints amounting to 150 million pesos.
Sandra Echeverría, a victim who reported not receiving returns or her investment for a year and a half, celebrated the arrest on social media. "Today is a super important day for us (...) they are heroes," the actress said, thanking Alcalde Luján and the Public Ministry. Echeverría claimed over 1,500 victims and more than 200 pending complaints, with new arrest warrants issued recently.
The company, with offices at Paseo de la Reforma 509, 35th floor, in Cuauhtémoc, described itself as a Mexican firm focused on associates' well-being since 2004. Authorities continue tracing funds and aim to dismantle the full organization.
