Netflix unveils trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Netflix has released the official trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment in Rian Johnson's detective series featuring Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc. The teaser highlights a complex murder case in a small town involving a young priest accused of an impossible crime. The film arrives in select cinemas on November 26 before streaming on Netflix starting December 12.

Trailer Highlights

The new trailer introduces the story of young priest Jud Duplenticy, played by Josh O'Connor, who is sent to assist the charismatic Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) in a troubled parish. The congregation includes a diverse cast: devout churchgoer Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), author Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), and cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny). When a mysterious murder occurs without an obvious suspect, police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) teams up with detective Benoit Blanc to solve the case.

The footage shows O'Connor's character as the prime suspect, desperately seeking Blanc's help to prove his innocence. Blanc describes it as one of his toughest investigations, blending tension with humor, including a scene featuring Close's character and misinterpreted graffiti. The trailer has quickly amassed over 14,000 views and earned early praise, with Collider calling it "a brilliant murder mystery" and The Film Stage noting it is "impossible to predict."
