Nico Rosberg hails Kimi Antonelli's maiden F1 win in China

2016 Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg shared an emotional message congratulating Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli on his first F1 victory at the Chinese Grand Prix, drawing parallels to his own career and highlighting their long connection.

Following Kimi Antonelli's maiden Formula 1 triumph at the Shanghai International Circuit—where the 19-year-old converted pole into victory ahead of teammate George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, and Charles Leclerc—the 2016 champion Nico Rosberg posted a heartfelt message. Rosberg, who also secured his first F1 win at the same event, noted the similarities: "Congratulations, really so awesome to follow that. We've known each other for so many years. Incredible to watch your career progress and to get that win now in F1. I was really emotional watching it, and you deserve it so much." He added: "There are some comparables. I also won my first race in China. We're both now [two] of only seven Formula 1 race winners with Mercedes. So that's super, super special." The pair's history dates back to 2019 when Antonelli raced in the Rosberg Racing Academy, winning the South Garda Winter Cup, WSK Super Master Series, WSK Euro Series, WSK Open Cup, and WSK Final Cup. Rosberg expressed support for Antonelli, Russell, and Mercedes ahead of the season. This victory placed Antonelli second in the drivers' standings with 47 points, four behind leader Russell.
