Nigeria and UAE partner on digital education for youth

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE Digital School to enhance digital education access for Nigerian youth. The agreement, inked in Dubai, aims to equip young Nigerians with skills for the global digital economy. It builds on prior engagements between Nigerian officials and UAE partners.

On November 13, 2025, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development formalized a partnership with the United Arab Emirates Digital School, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focuses on expanding digital education and practical skills through the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) platform, targeting underserved Nigerian youth.

The signing ceremony in Dubai represents a key step in Nigeria's strategy to integrate its youth into the global digital economy. This collaboration follows meetings in July 2025 between Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande and UAE government officials.

At the event, Olawande emphasized the partnership's significance, stating, “a promise to equip Nigerian youth with the skills, tools, and opportunities they need to thrive in a fast-changing digital world.” He added, “What we celebrate today goes beyond Nigeria. It stands as a symbol of shared responsibility, shared progress, and shared hope for the youth of both nations.”

The UAE Digital School, led by Dr. Waleed Al Ali, provides digital learning resources to communities worldwide. Under this MoU, Nigeria will utilize the school's infrastructure and expertise to promote digital inclusion nationwide.

Olawande praised the UAE for their support and hospitality, while commending local partner Sapphital Limited and his ministry team for their roles in advancing NiYA and related projects.
