Warren Hudson, best friend of Nolan Wells, discussed his absence from the funeral and initial assumptions about the disappearance during a recent interview. Hudson cited death threats and a desire not to distract from the family. Nolan's mother, Christine Wonsley, has also shared her grief publicly while seeking further details on the search.
Warren Hudson appeared on "The Officer Tatum Show" and described assuming Nolan had passed out on a couch after getting intoxicated on Horn Island. He said a group arrived at their house around 1 AM on July 5 looking for Nolan, but Hudson agreed with a high school acquaintance that Nolan was likely sleeping it off.
Hudson explained skipping the funeral to avoid becoming a distraction and because he had received thousands of death threats. He added that he and his group had begged Nolan to leave the island with them earlier.
Nolan's body was found two days after he went missing during Fourth of July weekend. Authorities stated he drowned, but his family and attorney Ben Crump have disputed this and ordered a separate autopsy.
On July 25, Christine Wonsley posted a TikTok video about her grief, saying the past week has been trying and that she misses her son's daily updates and hugs. She also agreed to view search photos from the United Cajun Navy in person.
